The young man had suffered a so-called patellar luxation (dislocated kneecap) with immediate reduction while playing soccer. Within 2 weeks, I suffered another patellar dislocation, this time while running. The patient was fitted with an orthosis outside the clinic and presented at our surgery for further clarification. <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-12b6496 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"12b6496\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Investigation<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-670ed42 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"670ed42\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The clinical examination already showed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orthogruber.at\/en\/leg-axis-correction\/\">valgus leg axis<\/a>, so-called knock-knees and a significantly increased mobility of the kneecap. A whole-leg X-ray allowed the leg axis to be measured precisely and 5\u00b0 valgus was detected on both sides. A magnetic resonance tomography of both knee joints showed the bruise marks of the patellar dislocations that had occurred in the form of bone marrow edema and additionally a flat trochlea femoris (sliding groove of the kneecap on the thigh).<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3131784 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3131784\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Diagnosis<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-142bb48 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"142bb48\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The patient&#8217;s X-B position causes an outward pull on the kneecap when the thigh muscles are tensed and, in combination with the flat sliding channel, causes the kneecap to pop out. <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7a4fab4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7a4fab4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Treatment<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8d56739 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8d56739\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the young age of the patient and the existing residual growth potential<\/span><b>, a temporal epiphysiodesis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been carried out. The growth plate on the inside of the knee was temporarily blocked with special epiphysiodesis plates without damaging the growth plates.
